Barrow-in-Furness is situated in the North West of England at the Southern tip of the County of Cumbria. Its location is on the Furness Peninsula, which juts out into the North Sea, with Lancaster and Morecambe across the bay to the East and the Isle of Man across the North Sea to the West.

The Dock Museum, which is a spectacular modern building built over an historic grade II listed dry dock, with displays on the social and industrial history of the town, as well as a vibrant temporary exhibition and events programme.

South Lakes Wild Animal Park is one of Europe's finest conservation animal park's housing some of the world's rarest species. Uniquely to Britain it is home to both Sumatran and Siberian tigers, as well as African lions. There are animals from many continents, some free roaming, and informative talks featuring endangered species such as rhino's and tigers are a highlight of the day.

The world famous Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston, the town where Stan was born on 16th June 1890 is devoted to comic duo Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy.

Set in the magnificent Vale of Nightshade, Furness Abbey was built in stages between 1127 and the 16th Century, the site is one of the most impressive religious monuments in the care of English Heritage.

Attractions in the nearby Lake District

The Haverthwaite Railway runs daily steam trains between Haverthwaite and Lakeside. Haverthwaite Station is located Nr Ulverston, Cumbria, LA12 8AL on the A590 Road 2.5 miles from Newby Bridge.

Discover Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor's garden and visit Jemima Puddle-duck in the woodland glade. The World of Beatrix Potter brings all the Lakeland tales of Beatrix Potter to life in an indoor recreation of the countryside, complete with sights, sounds and even smells.

Grizedale Forest is home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes Adventure, mountain biking, sculpture in the forest,  walking trails, beautiful scenery, a visitor centre, café and excellent park!!

Fell Foot is a Victorian Park on the eastern lakeshore of Windermere. Boat hire, picnic area, tea room and adventure playground for the kids. Stunning views of the Lakeland fells in a peaceful and idyllic setting.
